Project Main Image

The Lessius Mechelen University College (University of Professional Education) enrols about 5,200 students and provides bachelor courses, in addition to postgraduate courses and a string of post-university graduate training courses. The University  College is part of the University of Leuven Association.
The centre of the interior & design courses is campus Lucas Faydherbe, situated nearby the commercial centre of Mechelen. This open campus, located in converted old vegetable warehouses, is a project of contemporary design.
The department offers the following courses: bachelor in interior design - study option Interior&Furniture and study option Interior&Building, a post graduate in furniture design (60 credits) and an English post graduate in international interior design (30 credits). The interior design students focus on the one hand on placing and finalising of levels containing a space and on the other hand on objects and furniture finding themselves in that space.
The bachelor in interior design offers an international semester to exchange students in English.
After their interior design studies, students can specialize in furniture design.
The department provides a teaching environment based on orienting students towards co-operation, responsibility, creativity and problem solving, which are all skills absolutely required in the professional world of today.  By winning a number of (inter)national individual and inter-scholar contests with furniture prototypes and objects and by designing and realising a number of interior projects, our students already gained an outstanding reputation.
